The Six-Month Midlife Journey

Crossing The Midlife Threshold

From Midlife Crisis to Midlife Calling

From Midlife Crisis to Midlife Calling

You’ve built a life.

You’ve taken on responsibility.
You’ve made things work.
You’ve built a life that, in many ways, looks fine from the outside.

And yet something has shifted.

What once made sense no longer quite does.
What once felt solid now feels uncertain.
The direction you were following no longer fits in the same way.

You may not call it a crisis.

But something is no longer working.

You can’t keep living like this.

Not dramatically.
But quietly, persistently, something is asking to change.

It’s not a failure.

It’s a threshold.

There comes a point in life where the old ways of being no longer hold.

Not because you’ve done something wrong—
but because something in you is changing.

A role, an identity, a way of living begins to loosen.

And in its place:

uncertainty
persistent questions
a growing restlessness

In another time, this would have been recognised for what it is:

a crossing
a transition
a threshold

But most of us are left to navigate it alone.

This is where the journey begins.

Not by fixing things.
Not by rushing into the next version of your life.

But by turning towards what is actually happening—and staying with it.

What may be waiting

Imagine…

waking up with a clearer sense of direction

no longer forcing yourself into a life that doesn’t quite fit

making decisions with more clarity and less second-guessing

feeling more at home in who you are

relating to others with greater honesty and ease

Not because everything is resolved.

But because something in you has settled into a deeper place.

You are no longer trying to return to who you were.
You are beginning to live from who you are now becoming.

The Shape of the Journey

This work is built around four phases that many people encounter in deep life transition.

Not as a rigid process—but as a lived experience you will come to recognise in yourself.

Stage 1 — Endings

Every real transition begins with an ending.

Together, we turn towards what is coming to a close —
old roles, identities, expectations, ways of being.

Not to analyse them.
But to acknowledge them.
And, when the time is right, to let them go.

Stage 2 — Separation

The courage to step into the unknown

There comes a point where staying the same is no longer possible.

This is the moment of decision.

Not gradual change —
but a crossing.

A step away from the familiar,
and into something not yet known.

Stage 3 — In-Between

Where the real work happens

Here, the old identity has loosened.
The new one has not yet formed.

It can feel uncertain.
Disorienting.

This is not a mistake.

It is the work.

Together, we develop your inner compass,
and begin to uncover what truly matters now.

Stage 4 — Return

Bringing the journey back into your life

This is not about leaving your life behind.

It is about returning to it —
with clearer eyes,
and a different relationship to who you are.

From here, the question becomes:

How do you live what you now know?

About the person guiding this journey

People often ask how I came to do this work.

Like many meaningful journeys, it did not begin with a clear plan.

It began with a crisis.

In my late thirties, following the breakdown of my marriage, I found myself at one of the lowest points of my life. I had lost my sense of direction, my self-worth had eroded, and I no longer knew who I was.

Looking back, I recognise this as what Dante (a 13th-century poet) described as “the dark wood” — a place where the familiar path disappears, you feel lost, and yet something deeper is beginning.

At the time, it truly felt like I was lost.

Yet this moment became the beginning of a different kind of journey.

The call and the path

Not long after, a series of unexpected moments led me towards teachers, practices, and experiences that opened me to an entirely new way of understanding life.

What began as a personal crisis gradually became a long period of learning, unlearning, and transformation — the foundations of the work I offer today.

Over the years, I explored a range of approaches to healing and personal development, including hands-on healing, energy work, rites of passage, and nature-based practices.

I spent a number of years living in Southern Africa, as well as time in Peru with other traditional cultures, learning directly from indigenous teachers and traditional ways of working with transition.

Along the way, I had to face my own patterns — self-doubt, avoidance, and the tendency to pretend everything was fine when it clearly was not.

It was not a straight path.

But over time, something began to shift.

Understanding the journey

Looking back, I can see that this period of my life moved through a pattern I now recognise in many deep transitions:

Endings — where the structures of life begin to fall away
Separation — stepping out of what once felt certain
In-Between — a time of uncertainty where something new begins to form
Return — re-entering life with greater clarity and alignment

What once felt like things falling apart gradually revealed itself as an initiation — a rite of passage.

The work I offer today

Today, I work with people who find themselves at a similar crossroads in life — moments when the old ways no longer work and something new is asking to emerge.

These transitions can feel confusing, unsettling, and at times overwhelming, and yet they can also become powerful gateways to a more authentic life.

My role is not to fix or direct your life.

It is to walk alongside you through this threshold — offering reflection, guidance, and structure, and the benefit of a path I have walked myself, while supporting you to find your own way through it.

A Glimpse of the Journey

Each person’s journey is their own — but over time, it tends to unfold through terrain like this:

Session 1 – Entering the Dark Wood
Arriving at a place where the old certainties no longer hold.

Session 2 – Facing the Swamp of Confusion
Meeting the uncertainty and beginning to name what is shifting.

Session 3 – Letting Go
Releasing what can no longer be carried into the next chapter.

Stage 2 — Separation

Session 4 – Standing at the Bridge of No Return
Recognising the moment of decision — where staying the same is no longer possible.

Session 5 – Crossing the Threshold
Stepping away from the familiar and into the unknown.

Stage 3 — In-Between

Session 6 – When Nothing Feels the Same
Navigating the disorientation that comes when the old identity loosens.

Session 7 – Walking the Desert of Ambiguity
Learning to move forward without clear answers or direction.

Session 8 – Climbing the Mountains of Clarity
Gaining perspective and beginning to see what truly matters.

Session 9 – The Final Threshold
Preparing to return with a deeper understanding of yourself and your path.

Stage 4 — Return

Session 10 – Returning with New Eyes
Seeing your life differently, with greater clarity and awareness.

Session 11 – Claiming the Gold Within
Recognising the insight and value you have gained through the journey.

Session 12 – Living the Calling
Beginning to live in alignment with what is now asking to come forward.

The Intention

This is not about becoming someone new.
It is about becoming more fully who you already are,
beneath the roles and expectations that no longer serve you.
To cross the midlife threshold consciously.
To return with clarity.
To begin living what is calling you forward.
